who we are
Krux was founded in early 2010, focused on building data fabric for the consumer web. The company spent its first six months in stealth development, building out its cloud-scale backend for the collection, management, and analysis of consumer web data. The company’s public launch was in August 2010, with the release of its comprehensive Audience Data Control platform. Krux has gained significant market traction, with dozens of companies adopting its solutions in the US, EU, and Asia.
Krux is privately held, and its initial funding was completed in May 2010, led by Mike Galgon, founder of aQuantive, and Howard Charney, founder of 3COM and Grand Junction, currently SVP, Cisco. Krux completed its second round of funding in August 2011, led by Accel Partners and IDG Ventures, along with continued participation and support of earlier investors.

Tom Chavez Chairman, CEO, & Founder
Tom most recently served as General Manager for the Online Publisher Business Group in Microsoft's Advertiser and Publisher Solutions (APS) group. Before Microsoft Tom was the CEO of Rapt Inc. from its founding in 1999 to its acquisition by Microsoft in April 2008. Before Rapt Tom worked as a systems architect at Sun Microsystems and as a researcher at the Rockwell Palo Alto Science Lab. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Philosophy from Harvard and a Ph.D. in Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations Research from Stanford. He sits on the Board of Meritus, a San Francisco non-profit that helps low income students enter and complete a four-year college degree.
Gordon McLeod President
Gordon oversees all of Krux’s client- and partner-facing activities worldwide, including sales, services, business development, and marketing. Mr. McLeod is an experienced media leader, most recently with News Corp. serving as President of The Wall Street Journal Digital Network where he oversaw worldwide digital product, revenue, and operations for WSJ.com, MarketWatch, Barron’s, SmartMoney and allthingsD. Since 2011 he has been an investor, advisor and board member for a variety of media technology companies. Prior to WSJ, McLeod held executive media and digital roles at CBS News, Grey Entertainment and Time Inc. Gordon holds an A.B. Political Economy from University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. Public Policy from Harvard University.
Matt Kilmartin Sales
Matt leads the Krux sales team with responsibilities for client acquisition and retention. He has a diverse background having successfully led sales teams in technology, media, and data solutions. Prior to Krux, Matt spent nearly 9 years at Akamai Technologies where he had many different roles. He was a top performer in their Enterprise Sales division before joining the Advertising Decision Solutions (ADS) team in 2008. His most recent assignment at Akamai was running Sales and Account Management for the ADS business unit (formerly aCerno). Matt has his BA from Wofford College, MBA from Babson College, and is a graduate of MIT Sloan's Executive Program.
David Ron CFO
David is a senior-level financial executive with more than 25 years of experience managing early stage technology companies through their rapid growth, fundraising and driving them to successful and high valuation outcomes. He assumes full responsibility for Krux’s financial and administrative management and will be based in the firm’s San Francisco headquarters.
Prior to joining Krux, Mr. Ron ran his own consulting firm, providing outsourced CFO and investing services including serving as director, investment banking – digital media for Centaur Partners. Previously, he was CFO and VP Finance for Market6; VP Finance at Rapt – and later part of the Microsoft finance integration team following its acquisition; CFO at Global Sight Corp.; CFO at TV Interactive Corp.; and treasurer for Metaphor Computer Systems (later acquired by IBM). Mr. Ron holds a Series 79 FINRA certification. He is a graduate of Boston University.
Michael Moreau Solutions
Mike is an expert in data-driven media strategies and brings nearly 15 years of experience to his position at Krux. As vice president of solutions, he is responsible for increasing client usage of Krux’s products, customer satisfaction, building out a diverse network of partners, and driving advanced applications of the Krux platform.
Previously, Mike served as vice president of digital at GateHouse Media, which owned 400 local and regional media properties. He was responsible for digital strategy, operations, product development, programmatic trading, and ad technology. He also managed the company’s implementation of the Krux DMP. He was co-founder and chief operating officer of ReviNet (acquired by PubMatic); and held senior revenue and business management positions at Boston.com. He started his career at Arthur Andersen. Mike has a B.S. in accounting and information systems from the University of Massachusetts.
Richard Foster Managing Director, EU
Richard brings to Krux an in-depth knowledge of the European digital, publishing and online advertising industry with 20 years experience and a track record of success in building, scaling and managing businesses in these sectors. Prior to taking up his role at Krux in May 2012, Richard was UK Managing Director of TRUSTe, the leading privacy management solutions provider. As UK MD, Richard’s remit was to grow the UK business and ensure TRUSTe was the privacy provider of choice for leading brand advertisers and media owners.
Richard has strong experience as a media owner: he was Digital Director at Future Publishing for five years and held responsibility for the company's digital growth strategy and for the successful launch of many of Future's major digital initiatives. Under his stewardship Future Publishing launched a dedicated data team, becoming one of the first media owners in Europe to directly trade data with the major trading desks.
Richard was previously the European Managing Director at Audience Science, the leading global supplier of behavioural targeting technology, and Commercial Director of 24/7 Real Media, where he was responsible for building brand-advertising programs across the Real Media network.
Dave Smith Global Strategy
Dave leads global market expansion efforts for Krux. His core passion is delivering value for clients. Having led Krux's initial expansion into the European market, Dave is now applying his energies to understanding how Krux can create value in the APAC and Latin America markets. Most recently, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at Tumri, leading operations, account management, and sales. Before Tumri, Dave led sales and services at Rapt and played a lead sales role for publisher tools at Microsoft Advertising. Dave also has extensive previous experience in management consulting and enterprise technology solutions.
Vivek Vaidya CTO & Founder
Vivek is responsible for the roadmap and build out of Krux's technology platform. He has been developing software for over 15 years, mostly in early stage startups. Prior to Krux, Vivek was the CTO of Rapt, where he was responsible for Rapt's technology strategy and product architecture. Vivek holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Denver and an M.S. in Mathematics and Computer Applications from IIT Delhi.

Mike Galgon Director
Mike Glagon was a founder of aQuantive, having a hand in nearly all areas of its development and growth. Following its acquisition by Microsoft in 2007, he served as the Chief Advertising Strategist of Microsoft Corporation until early 2009. He currently servers as Director and Advisor to a wide range of internet and technology start-ups.
Howard Charney Director
Howard Charney, Senior Vice President, advises governments, businesses and universities around the world on implementing critical Internet technologies to improve productivity and competitiveness. Charney has driven the development and proliferation of key technologies that led directly to the global build-out of the Internet. He co-founded 3Com Corporation, founded Grand Junction Networks, and grew Cisco's two-tier distribution business into a $2.4 billion business in just two years.
Alex Rosen Director
Alex Rosen is a Managing Director with IDG Ventures. He combines 18 years of venture capital experience with a deep understanding of technology products, making him a valuable advisor to new media and information technology companies. He currently serves as board director or observer at Expect Labs, Krux Digital, Minted, and Smartling, and led IDG Ventures' investment in LivingSocial (through acquisition of SocialMedia), and Watchguard Technologies. Previously, he was a General Partner at Sprout Group, focusing on software and consumer internet companies.
Arthur Patterson Director
Arthur is founding partner at Accel Ventures and enjoys working with start-up entrepreneurial teams in Software and Services. As the lead investor he has helped management teams develop their companies into market defining leaders. IPO's of such companies include: Actuate, (Reporting); MetroPCS, (Cellular Carrier); Portal Software, (Internet Billing); UUnet/MCI-WorldCom, (ISP); and Veritas, (Storage). He has also been a Director/Investor in many other information technology Companies which became public companies.
